  • These are some astounding though not unexpected results. I believe this confirms the notion that the combined approach of rehab, function, intervention, mindfulness and realistic goal setting are critical in this patient population to avoid potentially devastating comorbid issues.

  • Excellent presentation! What inspired your choice of the matching controls ratio of 1:4? Also since it was a retrospective case-control study, over what number of years was the study carried out and was this before or after the opioid Epidemic in the US? Finally was this study carried out in one medical center or in many medical centers? Thank you!

    • The data was analyzed from January 2012 to May 2019 and was gathered from the Ochsner Healthcare System. The matching ratio was based on the number of cases and controls and was up to a 1:4 ratio, so it included 1:2 and 1:3 as well. Thank you for your interest in the research!
